What’s needed to enable Intelligent Backup Power and how much does it all cost to install?

To enable Intelligent Backup Power and power your home with your Lightning™, you’ll need to install the Home Integration System and Ford Charge Station Pro.

Depending on your location, the base price for installing the Ford Charge Station Pro ranges from $1,250-$1,650. When paired together with the Home Integration System hardware and installation, the base price ranges from $8,900-9,400. Alternatively, you can bundle your Home Integration System and Charge Station Pro installation into a Sunrun home solar subscription and get it all for as little as $0 down.

If additional hardware or work is needed for your home (e.g. extra conduit, trenching, a main electrical panel upgrade), your price may be higher.

How do I get a home charging solution for my Lightning™?

If you purchase a 2023 model year Lightning^™ with the extended range battery, the Ford Charge Station Pro is included with the purchase of your vehicle. Sunrun can help coordinate shipping and installing your Ford Charge Station Pro.

If you purchase a 2024 model year F-150 Lightning, the Ford Charge Station Pro is NOT included with the purchase of your vehicle. If interested, you can purchase the Ford Charge Station Pro from Ford here. Note that this is the only charger that can pair with the Home Integration System to enable Intelligent Backup Power.

I don’t live in a single family house. Will Sunrun install at other types of residences?

Sunrun requires customers to own the home where the modifications and installation are performed. Single family homes, townhouse-style residences, and duplex-style residences may be eligible for installation if owned by customers.

Are Sunrun installations available in my area?

Sunrun provides installation for the Ford Charge Station Pro and Home Integration System in all 50 states + DC. However, Sunrun installation is not available in some ZIP Codes.

Is Sunrun installation required to enable Intelligent Backup Power or can I choose a different provider?

Ford F-150® Lightning™ customers can choose any installation provider of their choice. The Home Integration System and Ford Charge Station Pro hardware is required to enable Ford Intelligent Backup Power. The Home Integration System hardware is available for purchase without Sunrun installation through our vendor AEE at his.aeesolar.com, and the Charge Station Pro hardware is similarly available through Ford, here. Both systems should be installed by a licensed electrician.

What can I power with Intelligent Backup Power, and does the Home Integration System work with other electric vehicles?
