Help scheduling solar appointments

Scheduling solar appointments can be a tricky business, but you shouldn't have to worry about them—that's our job. In this article, we'll explain the different solar appointments we may schedule for you, how to prepare for a solar appointment, and what to do if you need to reschedule a solar appointment.

The appointments during your solar journey

At the very minimum, we’ll visit your home at least four times during your solar journey:

  1. Initial Consultation
  2. Home Assessment
  3. Solar Installation
  4. Solar Inspection

However, visiting a home a minimum of four times isn’t very realistic. We custom design each Vivint Solar system because each home is unique, and solar requirements differ based on where you live.

During your solar journey, it's more likely that we'll visit your home several different times. We may need to adjust for changes to your solar design, change out a part of your solar energy system because your municipality asked us to, or complete an upgrade we've agreed to handle on your home.

Though many of them won't apply to you, we've compiled a list of every type of solar appointment we perform during the Vivint Solar journey.

  • Initial Consultation

How to prepare for a solar appointment

Though each solar appointment is different, here are some things you can do to prepare for our visit:

  • If we’ve asked, please ensure an adult (18 or older) is on-site during our visit.
  • If we’ve asked, please move any items that block access to your attic, electrical panel(s), and large electrical appliances (washer, dryer, oven, stove, etc.).
  • If we’ve asked, please move any cars that block access to your driveway or carport.
  • Please remove any locks from your electrical panel, utility meter, and property gate.
  • Please keep any pets away from our technicians while they’re working.

How to reschedule a solar appointment

Rescheduling a solar appointment depends on the work we’re trying to complete. For example, if we’re coming by to add a placard on to AC Disconnect, then we probably won’t schedule anything at all because it’ll only take our technician 30-seconds to complete.

Other appointments are harder to reschedule because we may have to work with multiple parties and juggle schedules between several people. To help with this, we’re going to review all the different types of solar appointments you may experience and the best options for rescheduling them.

  • Initial Consultation: no rescheduling requirements
  • Design Assessment: the easiest way to reschedule this appointment is to contact your sales rep.
  • Home Assessment: the easiest way to reschedule this appointment is to contact your sales rep.
  • Assessment for electrical service change*: because we usually work with one or two third-parties for this service, we ask that you do everything in your power to avoid canceling this appointment. If there is an emergency and no one to fill in for you at the appointment, we ask that you please contact us, or the company we've hired to perform the service (you will have their information), and work with them to reschedule.

  • Building Inspection*: see answer for pre-inspection service visit.
  • Post-inspection service visit*: see answer for pre-inspection service visit.

How solar appointments will work after I activate my solar energy system

If you sign a Power Purchase Agreement or Lease Agreement, Vivint Solar will monitor your system for the next twenty years to ensure it’s operating. We ask that you help by logging into Account Center or the Vivint Solar App for Apple or Android and self-monitoring your solar production as well.

If there’s ever a problem, you can always troubleshoot your Vivint Solar system or reach out to us for help. If necessary, we may also proactively reach out to you to schedule a service appointment with one of our Vivint Solar Performance Technicians.

For clarification about the work we’re doing or the reason for an appointment, feel free to Contact Us.
